Alkagesta Broadens European Energy Footprint Across Aviation, Marine Fuels and Biofuels

Energy trading firm Alkagesta has expanded its downstream distribution footprint across several European energy sectors, increasing supplies of aviation fuel, low-sulfur marine fuel, and advanced biofuels. Since February 2026, the company has utilized the NATO pipeline network in Europe to transport Jet A-1 aviation fuel. Having initially supplied major air hubs in Brussels and Frankfurt, Alkagesta now delivers aviation fuel across five airports located in Germany and Belgium, according to a corporate statement reported by Romania Insider.

In the maritime sector, Alkagesta was among the early movers offering low-sulfur marine fuel to clients in the Central and Eastern Mediterranean. Following the enforcement of ECA environmental regulations in May 2025, the trader delivered more than 500,000 tons of ultra-low-sulfur marine fuel (ULSFO) across Mediterranean shipping routes throughout 2025, according to data from the company’s ESG report cited by Romania Insider.

Alongside conventional refined products, the company has expanded its renewables desk to target advanced biofuels and secondary raw material processing. "Since launching our dedicated biofuels desk in 2025, we have built a certified, end-to-end trading platform across Europe and beyond, combining strong market access with disciplined risk management to deliver reliable and scalable solutions across the biofuels value chain," stated Anthony Guida, Biofuels Trader at Alkagesta. The firm invested in a Used Cooking Oil (UCO) processing facility in 2022, subsequently increasing its UCO collection from 734 tons to 1,860 tons, while processed secondary raw materials nearly tripled to 1,780 tons with support from regional sourcing networks in Malta.

Alkagesta's broader European strategy places increasing emphasis on Eastern Europe through Alkagesta Romania, integrated within a global operational footprint spanning 48 countries and 17 offices or representative locations. Furthermore, the company manages more than 700,000 cubic meters of fuel storage capacity situated across Europe and Asia, supporting its regional distribution and logistics operations across various refined product markets.
